Rob Roy Cocktail Recipe

Thu, May 09, 24  |  scotch cocktails

The Rob Roy is a classic cocktail that's a twist on the Manhattan, featuring Scotch whiskey instead of rye. Here's what you'll need to make one:

Ingredients:

  • 2 ounces Scotch whiskey
  • 1 ounce sweet vermouth
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • Garnish: lemon twist or maraschino cherry (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Fill a mixing glass with ice.
  2. Add the Scotch whiskey, sweet vermouth, and Angostura bitters to the mixing glass.
  3. Stir well for about 20 seconds to chill and dilute the drink.
  4. Strain into a chilled coupe or martini glass.
  5. Express the oils from a lemon twist or orange peel over the drink (optional).
  6. Garnish with the lemon twist or maraschino cherry (optional).

Tips:

  • Use a good quality Scotch whisky for the best flavor. A blended Scotch is perfectly acceptable for this cocktail.
  • If you don't have a mixing glass, you can use a large mason jar or another sealable container.
  • Be careful not to over-stir the drink, as this can make it watery.
  • Adjust the amount of sweet vermouth to your taste. If you prefer a drier drink, use a bit less vermouth.

Enjoy your Rob Roy!
