Planter’s Punch Cocktail

Fri, May 31, 24  |  rum cocktails

Planter's Punch is a classic rum cocktail originating in Jamaica. It's a refreshing and flavorful drink perfect for a crowd, ideal for serving at parties or on a hot day. There are variations in recipes, but here's a common way to make it:

Ingredients:

  • 3 ounces Dark rum
  • 1 ounce Fresh lime juice
  • 1 ounce Simple syrup (or substitute with sugar)
  • 3 dashes Angostura bitters
  • 1 teaspoon Grenadine syrup
  • 1 splash Club soda (optional)
  • Garnish: Mint sprig (and optionally a cherry and pineapple wedge)

Instructions:

  1. Add all ingredients except the club soda and garnish to a shaker filled with ice.
  2. Shake well and strain into a large glass filled with ice.
  3. Top with a splash of club soda (for a lighter drink) if desired.
  4. Garnish with a mint sprig and optionally a cherry and pineapple wedge.

Tips:

  • Adjust the ratios of rum, lime juice, and simple syrup to your taste preference. You can also adjust the amount of grenadine depending on how sweet you like your drink.
  • If you don't have simple syrup, you can make your own by dissolving equal parts sugar and water in a saucepan over low heat.
  • For a party-sized batch, simply multiply the recipe and combine everything in a pitcher with ice.
