Classic Kamikaze: A Potent and Refreshing Cocktail

Wed, May 22, 24  |  vodka cocktails

The Kamikaze, meaning "divine wind" in Japanese, is a simple yet powerful cocktail that packs a punch.  This three-ingredient wonder is perfect for those who enjoy a strong and citrusy drink.

Ingredients:

  • 1 ounce vodka
  • 1 ounce triple sec (or orange liqueur)
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • Lime wedge, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. For an extra refreshing drink, you can pre-chill your coupe or martini glass by filling it with ice and water for a few minutes. Discard the ice water before building your cocktail.
  2. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add the vodka, triple sec, and lime juice.
  3. Shake well for about 15 seconds to chill and dilute the drink. Strain the Kamikaze into the chilled coupe glass.
  4. Add a lime wedge for a pop of color and a touch of citrus aroma. Enjoy!

Tips:

  • Freshly squeezed lime juice is always preferable for the best flavor, but bottled lime juice can be substituted in a pinch.
  • If you prefer a sweeter Kamikaze, add a half ounce of simple syrup to the mix.
  • Be mindful of the alcohol content in this drink, as it packs a strong punch due to the equal parts vodka, triple sec, and lime juice.
