Burnt Fuselage Cocktail

Wed, May 29, 24  |  cognac cocktails

The Burnt Fuselage is a classic cocktail named after, well, a burnt fuselage!  It's a surprisingly smooth and satisfying drink despite its fiery name. Here's what you'll need to make one:

Ingredients:

  • 1 ounce cognac
  • 1 ounce Grand Marnier
  • 1 ounce dry vermouth
  • Garnish (optional): lemon twist

Instructions:

  1. For best results, pre-chill a coupe or cocktail glass.
  2. Add the cognac, Grand Marnier, and dry vermouth to a mixing glass filled with ice.
  3. Stir the drink for about 20-30 seconds to chill and dilute it. Strain into your chilled coupe glass.
  4. Express the oils from a lemon twist over the drink and garnish the rim. Enjoy your Burnt Fuselage!

Tips:

  • High-quality ingredients will make a noticeable difference in the final product.
  • If you don't have Grand Marnier, you can substitute another orange liqueur like Cointreau.
  • For a drier drink, use a slightly higher proportion of dry vermouth.
  • Some variations call for equal parts (1.5 oz each) of cognac, Grand Marnier, and dry vermouth. Experiment to see which ratio you prefer.
