Brandy Smash Cocktail

Wed, May 29, 24  |  brandy cocktails

The Brandy Smash is a refreshing and flavorful summer cocktail that highlights the character of brandy with a touch of sweetness and mint. Here's how to make one:

Ingredients:

  • 2 ounces brandy
  • 4-6 fresh mint leaves
  • ½ teaspoon superfine sugar (or simple syrup)
  • ½ ounce club soda (optional)
  • Garnish: mint sprig and orange slice (or other seasonal fruit)

Instructions:

  1. In a rocks glass or old-fashioned glass, gently muddle the mint leaves with the sugar using a muddler or the back of a bar spoon.
  2. Pour in the brandy and fill the glass with crushed ice.
  3. If using, gently top the drink with club soda for a spritzy touch.
  4. Give the drink a quick stir to combine everything. Garnish with a fresh mint sprig and an orange slice (or your chosen fruit).

Tips:

  • The amount of sugar is flexible. You can taste the drink after muddling the mint and adjust to your preference. Simple syrup can be used instead of sugar for a quicker dissolve.
  • Experiment with the number of mint leaves to find your ideal balance of mint flavor.
  • Use a brandy you enjoy sipping neat, as the quality will shine through in the cocktail.
  • For a more robust drink, skip the club soda. For a lighter and fizzier version, add the recommended amount.
  • Feel free to experiment with different seasonal fruits as garnish, such as berries or muddled peaches.
