Bourbon Mojito: A Twist on a Classic

Tue, Jun 18, 24  |  bourbon cocktails

The mojito, a refreshing and minty cocktail, gets a twist with the addition of bold bourbon. This variation offers a deeper flavor profile while staying true to the original's cool and inviting nature.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz Bourbon (choose a brand you enjoy neat)
  • ¾ oz Fresh Lime Juice
  • ½ oz Simple Syrup (or adjust to your taste)
  • 10-12 Fresh Mint Leaves
  • Club Soda, to top
  • Lime Wedge and Mint Sprig (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. In a highball glass, muddle the mint leaves and simple syrup together. Don't go overboard; you want to bruise the mint to release its oils, not pulverize it.
  2. Squeeze in the fresh lime juice.
  3. Add the bourbon and fill the glass with ice.
  4. Stir gently to combine the flavors.
  5. Top with club soda, leaving a bit of space at the rim.
  6. Garnish with a lime wedge and a fresh mint sprig.

Tips:

  • For a spicier kick, muddle a few slices of jalapeno with the mint leaves.
  • Want a smokier flavor? Opt for a peated bourbon.
  • Don't have simple syrup? Make your own by combining equal parts sugar and water in a saucepan, heating it until the sugar dissolves, and then letting it cool.
  • Adjust the amount of simple syrup and club soda to achieve your desired level of sweetness and fizz.

Enjoy this delightful twist on a classic! The bourbon mojito offers a refreshing and flavorful option for any cocktail enthusiast.
